Development Coordinator (Harrisburg)

Position Summary:  The Development Coordinator supports the mission goals and the strategic planning of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank.  The Development Coordinator will work closely with staff to support fundraising and other aspects of resource development.  

Job Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for coordinating fundraising processes

  • Coordinate the annual Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) tax credit donation process, including related prospects and donor communications

  • Maintain corporation, foundation and individual files

  • Conduct research on prospective corporate, foundation and individual donors

  • Coordinate direct mail programs including serving as a liaison between vendors and the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank

  • Assist with donor cultivation, giving and recognition events, including invitations, solicitations, seating, registration and other duties as assigned for fundraising events

  • Write grants, research, record keeping and grant reporting

Education and Experience:

Education:  A bachelor's degree plus three years' experience, preferably in a non-profit, fundraising office

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Knowledge of Mail Merge and basic accounting helpful

  • Knowledge of Raiser's Edge or another donor database a plus

  • Ability to operate standard office equipment (machines, tools, devices) used in performing only the essential function computer and related equipment, typewriter, calculator, photo copier, fax machine and telephone

Supervisory responsibilities:  None

Physical requirements or licenses:

  • A valid driver's license with history of good driving record
  • Ability to travel that may include consecutive overnight stays and traveling by car, bus and airplane
  • Conditions may include working outside in inclement weather, working closely with others, working alone and working protracted or irregular hours
  • Must be able to occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds
  • The work environment is typically quiet

Development Manager (Williamsport)

Position Summary:  The Development Manager supports the mission goals and strategic plan of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank (CPFB).  The development manager builds productive relationships both internally and externally to achieve the goals of the organization.  Under the direction of the Director of Development, the Development Manager assists fundraising efforts, specifically in the Northern Tier.

Job Accountabilities:

  • Actively participate in the Northern Tier Management team, working with the Operations Manager - Northern Tier, Agency Relations Manager - Northern Tier and Programs Manager - Northern Tier to regionally execute the CPFB mission.
  • Develop, manage and execute individual, corporate and organizational strategies to meet or exceed fundraising goals
  • In alignment with the CPFB's strategic advocacy plan, maintain relationships with local community partners (not agencies) including local government entities across the Northern Tier
  • Identify local funding sources and prepare grants on behalf of the organization and our partners to request funds in support of the CPFB mission
  • Assist in developing and executing a strategy of approach for each prospect in collaboration with the Individual Giving Manager and Corporate & Foundation Giving Manager
  • Work with the Development Database Coordinator to maintain a donor management system for the Northern Tier
  • Work collaboratively with members of the Development Department to manage relationships with monetary donors, sponsors, community members and collaboration partners including other non-profits in the Northern Tier
  • Work with the Communications and Marketing Manager and Coordinator to ensure Northern Tier activities, programs and events are publicized and announced
  • Work closely with the Events and Special Projects Associate to maximize donor participation and follow-up for cultivation events
  • Develop and maintain robust research, prospecting, cultivation, tracking, recognition and reporting processes and systems for the Northern Tier fund development and business development activities
  • Work with Director of Development and other CPFB staff, manage a portfolio of individual major donors, business relationships, foundation and other organizational donors, and planned giving prospected in the Northern Tier
  • Maintain a strong relationship with the Community Engagement Associate

Education and Experience:  

  • Bachelor's degree or comparable fundraising or communications experience in business management is required
  • Five to 10 years experience with a non-profit organization and/or in a fund development or communications role
  • Additional years of experience combined with an associate's degree would be considered in lieu of having a BS/BA

  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, addressing complaints and resolving problems

Agency Services Coordinator - Northern Tier (Williamsport)

Position Summary:  The Agency Services Coordinator - Northern Tier will assist in the implementation and coordination of daily activities of the Agency Relations Department and will serve as an integral Central PA Food Bank (CPFB) team member to provide exemplary service to a network of more than 900 agency partners.  This position will promote the CPFB and its mission to member agencies and to potential community partners and build enhanced relationships through onsite visits, training, video conferencing and general assistance.  

Job Accountabilities:

  • Manage day-to-day relations between member agencies, acting as a liaison between the CPFB and the partner by promptly responding to agency calls, requests for information and complaints to ensure all questions are satisfactorily addressed in a timely and efficient manner
  • Conduct site reviews and compliance visits to potential and present partner agencies assuring all agreement requirements are met and maintained for the duration of the partnership
  • Review an agency's eligibility for membership, oversee completion of all applications and forms, and help guide the agency through the partnership process
  • Help maintain the coordination of organization-wide consistency regarding reports, programs, and standards to include creating of reports tracking all complaints/grievances regarding member agencies and/or clients, six-month follow up site visits/phone calls for all new agencies or agencies with issues or new capacity grant equipment as well as grant spending status
  • Plan, schedule or assure that Agency Orientation for new agency partners or new staff/volunteers working with existing partners is completed
  • Create and oversee an agency compliance monitoring schedule for Williamsport program partners as well as monitoring preparation of reports/visits
  • Responsible for the coordination, development, implementation and evaluation of culinary and nutrition activities, fostering an inclusive, safe and fun learning environment for class participants
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships within the community, including chefs and culinary students to increase visibility of the nutrition program
  • Assist with the promotion of the annual agency conference, regional and in-house agency training opportunities
  • Participate in CPFB's major events as necessary i.e. fundraisers, agency-wide events, etc as well as off site outreach events and networking
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
