Central Pennsylvania Community to Benefit from Nationwide Foundation Grant to Feeding America
HARRISBURG - The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank has announced the receipt of a $50,000 donation from the Nationwide Foundation to support hunger-relief efforts in central Pennsylvania. The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank serves those who are struggling with hunger in 27 counties.
“We are pleased that the Nationwide Foundation supports our efforts to ensure that no one should be hungry in central Pennsylvania,” said executive director Joe Arthur. “Nationwide has been a long-term supporter of our efforts through both donations and volunteers.”
This grant is part of a $1.5 million gift to Feeding America® that will help provide more healthy foods to people in need. With this donation, the Nationwide Foundation is investing in 22 food banks, including the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, and supporting national produce sourcing efforts to help ensure safe and efficient produce delivery to food banks and their partner agencies.
The donation will be used to support the Food Bank’s efforts to provide healthy nutritious food to those in need. Currently, 1 in 8 Pennsylvanians – and 1 in 5 children – struggle with hunger daily.
“We’re committed to addressing the most critical needs in the communities where we live and work. Often those needs are the most basic ones, like ensuring that everyone in the community has enough food to live a healthy, productive life,” said Chad Jester, president of the Nationwide Foundation. “That’s why we are proud to partner with the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank.”
