USDA Secretary of Agriculture Perdue Visits CPFB to Roll Out 2018 Farm Bill

On January 24, the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank was honored to host U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue for a roundtable discussion on the Farm Bill and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).  Joining us at the round table were Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Secetary Russell Redding, guests from Feeding America, Feeding Pennsylvania, business and industry leaders, as well as individuals directly benefiting from SNAP programs.

The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank supports a strong Farm Bill as it is important not just to our entire nation, but it also has outsized importance in Pennsylvania. The Commonwealth’s Agriculture sector is its top industry, responsible for more than $135 billion of economic activity and impacting more than 580,000 jobs paying total wages of about $27 Billion. Despite the strengthening economy, more than 1.8 million Pennsylvanians require SNAP assistance to afford basic groceries.  #SNAPMatters
