20th annual Soup & a Bowl Event Set for March 11
This Food Bank favorite fundraiser features hot soup and handcrafted pottery.
February 20, 2013
The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank’s 20th annual Soup & a Bowl will take place Monday, March 11 at the Radisson Hotel Harrisburg, located in Camp Hill. With a St. Patrick’s Day theme, this event combines food, entertainment and the best handcrafted pottery from local artists. Last year, the event was a sellout, and served soup (and a bowl) to more than 600 guests and raised more than $25,000 to help the Food Bank reduce hunger in central Pennsylvania.
A ticket to the event includes a light lunch, a handcrafted pottery bowl, and live entertainment. Local artists create and donate all of the bowls, and guests select their own keepsake bowl. A limited number of commemorative Central Pennsylvania Food Bank bowls are also available to purchase the day of the event, at a cost of $30.
Tickets for this event are $25 by advance purchase, and $30 at the door. Visit centralpafoodbank.org to purchase tickets online or call 717.564.1700 to purchase tickets by phone. Seating is available from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Take-out food is also available. Tickets went on sale January 28, and a limited number of tickets are available for this event.
The Radisson Hotel Harrisburg donates space for this event, providing a selection of soups, such as classic potato (vegetarian based), chicken rice and vegetarian vegetable. Karns Quality Foods and Susquehanna Bank are this year’s premier Potter Sponsors. In addition to their sponsorship of the event, Karns will provide desserts and Bimbo Bakeries will be donating a variety of breads and rolls. Clay Sponsor for the event is Food Lion, Kiln Sponsors are AFSCME District Council 90, Eckert Seamans, Morefield Communications, Pepsi Bottling Company, Sun Motor Cars, Swiss Premium Dairy and Wolf Furniture and Glaze Sponsors are Boyer & Ritter, Brown Schultz Sheridan & Fritz, New World Pasta, PinnacleHealth and recoupIT, Inc.
Entertainment will be provided by pianist Nate Carabello, and Irish dancers will also perform during the event.
