With the need for emergency food assistance at record levels, two of the area’s most recognizable names have partnered to assist the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank’s efforts to fight hunger. PinnacleHealth and GIANT Food Stores made a combined donation of $5,000 to the Food Bank in an effort to supply nutritious food to families struggling with food insecurity. PinnacleHealth and GIANT recognize the ever-increasing population that is struggling with unemployment and underemployment and wanted to do more to further the Food Bank’s mission.
"Most of us enjoy three meals a day, snacks, holiday dinners, and dinners at restaurants,” stated Michael A. Young, President & CEO for PinnacleHealth. “Access to food is something that we take for granted. Yet, for many, the lack of food is a fact of their everyday lives. At PinnacleHealth, we are dedicated to maintaining and improving the health and quality of life for all the people of central Pennsylvania. We realize that access to food and good nutrition are integral components of good health. That’s why we are pleased to make this donation to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank in partnership with GIANT Food Stores."
“The number of people being served by the Food Bank is at an all-time high”, said Food Bank Executive Director Kendall Hanna.
“The need to serve more people continues to increase, and this donation from PinnacleHealth and GIANT will greatly help the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank supply nutritious food for our community and fulfill our mission of fighting hunger, improving lives and strengthening communities.”
The donation of $5,000 will enable the Central PA Food Bank to supply 30,000 meals during the holiday season.
