Central Pennsylvania Food Bank to hold 21st annual Soup & a Bowl Event on March 17
Fundraiser Features Hot Soup and Handcrafted Pottery
March 03, 2014
The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank’s 21st annual Soup & a Bowl will take place Monday, March 17 at the Radisson Hotel Harrisburg, located in Camp Hill. With a St. Patrick’s Day theme, this event combines food, entertainment and the best hand-crafted pottery from local artists. Last year, the event was a sellout, and served soup (and a bowl) to more than 600 guests and raised more than $25,000 to help the Food Bank reduce hunger in central Pennsylvania.
A ticket to the event includes a light lunch, a handcrafted pottery bowl, and live entertainment. Local artists create and donate all of the bowls, and guests select their own keepsake bowl. A limited number of commemorative Central Pennsylvania Food Bank bowls, crafted by Fitzgerald Pottery of Dillsburg, are also available to purchase the day of the event, at a cost of $30.
Seating for the event is available from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. and take-out food is also available. Tickets are on sale now and a limited number of tickets are still available. Tickets are $25 by advance purchase, and $30 at the door. Visit centralpafoodbank.org to purchase tickets online or call 717.564.1700 to purchase tickets by phone.
The Radisson Hotel Harrisburg donates space for this event, providing a selection of soups such as potato leek, chicken and rice, tomato bisque and Italian Wedding soup. Premier Potter Sponsors are Karns Quality Foods, Quantum Communications and Susquehanna Bank. In addition to their sponsorship of the event, Karns will provide desserts and Bimbo Bakeries will be donating a variety of breads and rolls. Kiln Sponsors are AFSCME District Council 90, Colonial Park Mall, Eckert Seamans, New World Pasta, Pepsi Bottling Company, Sun Motor Cars, Swiss Premium Dairy and Wolf Furniture and Glaze Sponsors are Boyer & Ritter and Brown Schultz Sheridan & Fritz.
