All volunteers must be scheduled in advance. Volunteers can either register and sign-up online or 
contact Katie Wetzel, Volunteer Coordinator - 717.564.1700, ext. 3198.

Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Evening and weekend hours vary.

Volunteering at the Food Bank is a great team-building opportunity. We are able to accommodate groups of 15-20.

The Food Bank welcomes volunteers 12 years and older, although volunteers 12-15 years of age require adult supervision or a chaperone.

Repacking food items are the most common volunteer opportunities at the Food Bank. The majority of the food that the Food Bank receives needs something done with it: repacking bulk product to individual/family size, assembling boxes with assorted or like food, checking expiration dates, labeling product, gleaning products, etc. While projects are determined based on warehouse needs, all repacking sessions are spent in the warehouse.

We will provide you with everything you need to complete your volunteer projects. We encourage you not to bring any personal belongings.

Volunteers repacking food items, working in the shopping area or office will receive a brief orientation about the Food Bank and a detailed description and instructions of the project being worked on at that time. Volunteers interested in long term volunteer opportunities such as food pick up and deliveries will be required to attend an orientation and/or training.

Please wear closed-toe shoes (no sandals, flip-flops or opened-toe shoes are permitted) and clothing you don’t mind getting dirty. We ask that you dress comfortably and respectfully. Layers are recommended as the temperature in the warehouse fluctuates.

The Central PA Food Bank Williamsport Food Bank location serves Bradford County, Clinton County, Columbia County, Lycoming County, Montour County, Northumberland County, Potter County, Sullivan County, Tioga County and Union County.

Year-round volunteer support is essential for the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. Volunteers assist us with many different projects from sorting through bulk food items, assembling food boxes, stocking shopping shelves, repacking bulk foods and many other projects. Our volunteers provide us with work equivalent to 12 full-time employees.
