Director, Human Resources

Position Summary:  The Director of Human Resources is responsible for the overall direction and strategy of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank (CPFB) employee related processes.  The position is responsible for personnel administration, benefits administration, organizational development, compensation strategy, recruiting and onboarding, training and development, and performance planning/coaching.  The position provides advice and counsel to internal employees and organization leadership, and manages relationships with external employee-related vendors.  The position also has responsibility for the reception area and staff associated with that, and provides human resources support for employees at multiple locations.  The position is part of the organization’s Leadership Team. 

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field plus five to seven years of experience with progressively increasing levels of responsibility in a previous human resources management position preferred.   Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.  Human Resources certification (SHRM) or advanced degree a plus.


Director Of Advocacy & Public Policy

Position Summary: The primary objective of the Director of Advocacy & Public Policy is to plan, develop, and effectively implement an advocacy program to support the efforts of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank (CPFB) to reduce hunger through engagement in public policy development, to foster the growth of grassroots hunger awareness efforts throughout the CPFB service territory, and to provide a strong voice for those in need.  This position will advocate directly at the local, state, and federal levels for improvements in government food programs and policies.  The Director of Advocacy & Public Policy will use a wide range of skills to raise awareness of the reality of hunger in Pennsylvania while fostering collaborative relationships between the private and public sectors to develop resources to address community needs and advocate for legislation and administrative action that addresses the many factors contributing to food insecurity.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, communications or equivalent work experience; a Master’s degree or professional certification a plus.

 A minimum of 10 years combined government relations, public policy, advocacy or lobbying experience and/or elected public service or related key staff support.


Benefits Specialist

Position Summary:  Under the direction of the Director of Human Resources, the Benefits Specialist will be responsible for managing the process of and assisting employees with the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-and long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, and our 401(k) plan, as well as handle Worker’s Compensation claims.      

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Human Resources related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position

CEBS certification a plus.  2-4 years in a Generalist role with 1 -3 years focused on benefits administration required.  Skilled in effectively communicating with a wide variety of audiences.

Fresh Express Coordinator

The Fresh Express Coordinator will promote the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and its mission to existing and potential community partners, building enhanced relationships through onsite visits, nutritional education and general assistance.  This person will also manage the day-to-day relations between Fresh Express program partners, acting as a liaison between the Food Bank and the partner by responding to calls, requests for information, and complaints to ensure all questions are satisfactorily addressed in a timely and efficient manner.  

Education and Experience:  B.S. or B.A. preferred.  Two years of previous experience in a non-profit or human services role.

Customer Service Associate

The Customer Service Associate will support the operational processes of the Food Bank, including administrative support and process assistance for critical customer service and order processing activities.

Volunteer Project Coordinator

The Volunteer Project Coordinator will provide warehouse coordination and integration of the volunteers to ensure the volunteer experience is optimal and that projects are well organized and executed.  Weekday hours may vary; there will be some weekend hours and overtime.


Youth Programs Associate

The Youth Programs Associate will administer the Child and Adult Care Food Program portion of the Kids Cafe™ program by training staff, CACFP and Summer Food Service compliance monitoring/training, ordering meals, reconciling vendor bills and keeping comprehensive records of meals received. 

Education and Experience:  College degree or strong work experience in Human Services, Business Management or Public Relations.


Warehouse Associate

The Warehouse Associate position is a full-time position open in the Harrisburg warehouse.  This associate supports the operations of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank including receiving, storage, staging of multiple food products, and other duties as assigned.
