Northern Dauphin Food Pantry Coordinator (Elizabethville, PA)

Position Summary:  The Northern Dauphin Food Pantry Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Northern Dauphin Pantry Manager in the operation of the Northern Dauphin Food Pantry distribution program in Elizabethville, PA. 

Job Accountabilities:

  • Provide assistance to consumers with food selection and facilitate access to nutritional information as available

  • Assist in preparation of inventory for distribution to consumers using a "client choice" model

  • Support efforts to order food and supplies for the pantry and monitor inventory deliveries from the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and community donors

  • Update the client database assuring secure and confidential integrity of client records

  • Periodically participate in assigned outreach activities

  • Provide coverage and oversight to the pantry, in the absence of the Northern Dauphin Food Pantry Manager

Education and Experience:

Education:  High school diploma or higher

Experience:  Experience working in a customer service related field a plus.  Prior work experience in a food pantry is preferred but not required.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook (email) and the internet

  • Must be able to assist in food deliveries several times per week

  • Ability to operate a pallet jack and use a step ladder

  • Must be able to clean the working area daily

  • Ability to operate standard office equipment (machines, tools and devices) used in performing only the essential function including computer and related equipment, calculator, photo copier, fax machine and telephone

Supervisory responsibilities:  None

Physical requirements or licenses:

  • A valid driver's license with history of a good driving record
  • Conditions may include working outside in inclement weather, working closely with others, working alone and working protracted or irregular hours
  • Bending, reaching, stooping to gather food items, or assist consumers in loading vehicles as necessary
  • Must be able to routinely lift or move up to 50 pounds
  • The work environment is typically quiet

Grant Writer (Harrisburg, Full Time)

Position SummaryThe Grant Writer identifies, defines, and develops funding sources to support existing and planned program activities as well as coordinates the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to third-party entities.

Development Coordinator (Harrisburg)

Position Summary:  The Development Coordinator supports the mission goals and the strategic planning of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank.  The Development Coordinator will work closely with staff to support fundraising and other aspects of resource development.  

Job Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for coordinating fundraising processes

  • Coordinate the annual Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) tax credit donation process, including related prospects and donor communications

  • Maintain corporation, foundation and individual files

  • Conduct research on prospective corporate, foundation and individual donors

  • Coordinate direct mail programs including serving as a liaison between vendors and the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank

  • Assist with donor cultivation, giving and recognition events, including invitations, solicitations, seating, registration and other duties as assigned for fundraising events

  • Write grants, research, record keeping and grant reporting

Education and Experience:

Education:  A bachelor's degree plus three years' experience, preferably in a non-profit, fundraising office

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Knowledge of Mail Merge and basic accounting helpful

  • Knowledge of Raiser's Edge or another donor database a plus

  • Ability to operate standard office equipment (machines, tools, devices) used in performing only the essential function computer and related equipment, typewriter, calculator, photo copier, fax machine and telephone

Supervisory responsibilities:  None

Physical requirements or licenses:

  • A valid driver's license with history of good driving record
  • Ability to travel that may include consecutive overnight stays and traveling by car, bus and airplane
  • Conditions may include working outside in inclement weather, working closely with others, working alone and working protracted or irregular hours
  • Must be able to occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds
  • The work environment is typically quiet
