Fred Beans 500,000 Meals Challenge
The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, the largest charitable food distribution organization in central Pennsylvania, is taking steps to protect our neighbors in need during this time of uncertainty by distributing healthy, nutritious food to some of the most vulnerable populations, including children, families and seniors. The Food Bank will be facing a sharp increase in demand for their services, and this is a great opportunity for us to help.
Fred Beans founded the Fred Beans Automotive Group 45 years ago, driven by the philosophy of “doing well by doing good.” Supporting the communities that welcome Fred Beans dealerships, collision centers and its many other operations has become a company-wide commitment. Today, that commitment is unwavering, especially during these challenging times and despite the uncertainty the current health crisis brings.
Recognizing and responding to the growing need for hunger relief, the company has launched the “Fred Beans 500,000 Meals Challenge” with a goal of providing 500,000 meals by the end of the year. The Fred Beans team will donate $25,000 each month toward this effort. The “Challenge” is for vendors, customers and community members, who have the ability, to join the effort to help reach that 500,000-meal goal. The company has partnered with the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank as one of its benefiting organizations.
Given the current directive for “social distancing,” a virtual food drive is the perfect way to give. A virtual food drive enables the Food Bank to obtain and distribute most needed healthy and nutritious food such as fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products as well as complete Crisis Relief Boxes that are being distributed to help the many people in our area that have been severely impacted by missed work, increased childcare expenses, and uncovered medical bills.
Together we can make a difference in the fight against hunger in central Pennsylvania!
