Prices for many household goods and services continue to rise. So many of our neighbors are forced to make impossible choices between paying for groceries or paying for other critical needs such as rent or medicine.

Every month, Gary visits the Gratz MilitaryShare Distribution in Dauphin County, a partner of the Food Bank who distributes to veterans.

“Coming here helps out with my monthly food supply, that I can survive and eat healthy. We get fruit here, vegetables, protein, eggs, milk, and everything you could possibly need.”

After Gary returned home from the Navy, he worked as a machinist and eventually opened his own company  to do body shop work on automobiles until he retired at age 62.

“It [the pantry] helps me a lot because I only get $131 on SNAP. And until you go to grocery store and buy meat or something like that, it doesn’t get you very far. And coming here and getting what I get here is the greatest thing in the world.”

We would like to give a special Thank You to The Alexander Boyd and Jane Starke Boyd Charitable Foundation who recently donated $50,000 to help us provide healthy, nutritious food to neighbors like Gary throughout Dauphin County. We couldn’t do what we do without the generous support of our community.
