Make a charitable gift with appreciated stocks.
A charitable gift of appreciated securities like stocks, bonds and mutual funds may be an attractive way for you to support our mission to fight hunger in central Pennsylvania. These types of gifts come from your current assets and qualify for a charitable tax deduction.
For instructions on how to transfer stocks, please email development@centralpafoodbank.org or call 717-564-1700. When you have initiated the transaction, please remember to let us know so we can acknowledge your gift. Stocks must be transferred no later than December 31 to be considered as a donation for the year.
If you are 70 1/2 or older, you are able to make a tax-free charitable gift from your individual retirement account (IRA) to help support the work of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. You can transfer a gift from your IRA directly to the Food Bank without being subject to income taxes on the distribution. This charitable gift from your IRA counts toward your required minimum distribution for the year.
