Radiothon will raise much needed funds for the Food Bank
HARRISBURG, Pa – Cumulus Media is teaming with the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank for the St. Patrick’s Day Give Green Radiothon, a one-day live event on March 17. All Cumulus stations in Harrisburg, York and Lancaster will be involved.
Never has there been a greater need in our area and donations help the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank acquire and distribute food in the large quantities it needs to meet the increased demand and feed thousands of food insecure families, children, seniors and veterans in our communities. The Food Bank has seen demand for food assistance increase more than 40 percent in the past year and expects demand to remain at these high levels for the next two years. The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank serves more than 200,000 individuals each month through its network of 1,000 partner agencies and programs. Many in our area are visiting food pantries for their first time in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic fallout.
“We are grateful to Cumulus Media for partnering with us to feed our hungry neighbors in Central Pennsylvania,” said Joe Arthur, executive director of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. “Our community has shown so much generosity to the Food Bank throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and we still need their help. Demand for food assistance is at an all time high and will be for many months to come. With the help of listeners in the Harrisburg, York and Lancaster areas, we can continue to provide healthy, nutritious food to everyone in need throughout this pandemic and beyond.”
“Hunger is a 365 day a year challenge which has become even greater during the COVID-19 Pandemic and we want to help,” said Ron Giovanniello, Regional Vice President of Cumulus Media. “We are asking our listeners to do something different this St. Patrick’s Day, Wednesday, March 17, 2021 and “Give Green” to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and the incredible, important work they do in our community. Our listeners have always been generous, and with their help we hope to raise as much money as we can to assist our friends and neighbors in need”
