#HungerHeroStories

In April, when Pennsylvania was in the midst of stay-at-home orders and thousands were losing their jobs, demand for food from the Central Pennsylvania Food was rapidly increasing. That’s when WGAL News Channel 8 reached out to the Food Bank and offered to do an on-air virtual food drive to raise much needed funds for the our mission. They promoted the Virtual Food Drive on-air in every news cast, and their viewers responded in a way that we could not have imagined. In just 10 days, the fundraiser topped $400,000 at a time when we needed it the most. We were inspired and overwhelmed by the generosity of WGAL and their viewers.

“WGAL believes that supporting the mission of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank was more important than ever during the global COVID-19 pandemic. We are proud to help them fight hunger in the Susquehanna Valley during a challenging time,” said Justin Antoniotti, WGAL 8 President and General Manager.

This #HungerActionMonth, WGAL is supporting us once again, this time joining forces with The GIANT Company. From now through September 28, you can join WGAL and make a donation to help us Give Hope and End Hunger for thousands still struggling in the wake of the pandemic. Visit www.centralpafoodbank.org/WGAL8 to make a donation that will be matched by Giant, $1 for $1, up to $100,000.
