The Lancer Chef Impact Group, taught by assistant director of food services Jonathan Hall at Loyalsock Township School District in Williamsport, Pa, recently stopped by the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank to heat things up in our community learning kitchen. The students in the group not only learn cooking skills throughout the school year, but they also put those skills towards a good cause to make a difference in their local community. They made a sweet, healthy treat that was given to our partner agency Firetree Place for their after school program.

This sweet treat was made sweeter through our retail partnership with Walmart and Sam’s Club, as the ingredients for the snack were made possible through their food donation. The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank regularly receives rescued food from grocery chains, supercenters, convenience stores and more.  Two of our biggest retail partners are Walmart and Sam’s Club who regularly donate millions of pounds of food and thousands of dollars in monetary donations.

We are thankful for our continued retail partnership that makes these cooking outreach moments possible.
