Northern Dauphin Food Pantry
Meet Cindy and Marlin, a couple who uses the services of the Northern Dauphin Food Pantry. They have been visiting the food pantry for several years. They are so appreciative for the helping hand.
“I don’t know what we do without the food bank at times, because it was down to the bare bones to make ends meet,” said Marlin.
The couple also appreciate the kindness and generosity of the pantry. “You can talk to them and ask questions. No problems.”
Marlin adds, “I’ve worked my whole life and I never thought I’d ever need this kind of help. Â I’m so thankful they’re here, and I thank God that they are here, They’re wonderful people working with us.”
Hunger isn’t selective, and our community is better when we join hands and help.Â

“When you look to somebody for help, and that person gives it back to you with a smile on their face, never looks at you differently – it’s awesome! I appreciate it.”
The Northern Dauphin Food Pantry, a program facilitated by the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, is a client choice pantry where individuals choose items per food group based upon household size. Individuals who qualify for assistance are permitted to visit once per month. In addition, mobile distributions regularly occur at several Dauphin County Housing locations, including Gratz Park Terrace, Rattling Creek Apartments, Laurel Hill Apartments, Minnich Terrace, and Grubb Terrace. We also serve at Hollywood Court Apartments in Elizabethville.
The Northen Dauphin Food Pantry currently serves 400 families and 1,000 individuals each month, and is supported by grants from Dauphin County Human Services, the State Food Purchase Program, The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and local donors.
Pantry items include fresh produce; canned fruits and vegetables; cereal and grains; soups and complete meals; dairy products; meat and protein items. We also provide baked goods when available. All food is provided free of charge to qualifying families.
TEFAP is operated in accordance with USDA policy, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability.
