Below, you will find an interactive map and dashboard showing Feeding America’s Map the Meal Gap estimates as of 2022 for Pennsylvania by county and census tract. This map also shows important statistics related to food insecurity, including the estimated proportion of food insecure individuals eligible to participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) at the county level, the percentage of households who participate in SNAP at the census tract level, and the non-undergraduate poverty rate for both geographies.
Here are a few tips to help you use the dashboard most effectively:
- The map defaults to showing the overall statistics for Pennsylvania. To learn more about a specific county or census tract, click on the map!
- The top row of statistics will adjust to show the county-level numbers, and the bottom row will show the census-tract level figures.
- Click again within a selected census tract to highlight a municipality within a rural census tract or to identify the municipality an urban tract is within; the figures will remain the same, but you will be able to identify specific townships, cities, or boroughs.
- Zoom in on the map to get a closer look at a specific county or region.
- Municipality labels will appear to help you navigate the landscape when zoomed in.
