Training Registration

  • The Agency Services Department of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank offers a monthly training to acquaint agency and potential agency representatives with the Food Bank’s ordering process. Before signing up for this “Live Online Ordering” training, you must click HERE to watch the Agency Orientation Video and complete a short quiz. Afterwards, click below on a date to sign up for the “Live Online Ordering” session which covers:
  • Review of the Inventory List and Ordering Procedures
  • Answer any questions regarding the Orientation Video/Quiz

Just a reminder that Orientation is mandatory for new partners and for new staff and/or volunteers associated with current agencies. This training is necessary for those who are authorized to access Food Bank inventory and/or services on behalf of your agency.

Ensuring that your operation meets food safety regulations and passes health inspections is a critical component to your success. Serving quality foods in a clean, sanitary and safe environment is essential for all well-run operations. When you train your food service staff they are more likely to exceed food safety standards, ultimately keeping customers SAFE!

This eight-hour course starting at 8:00 a.m. is required for any operation cooking and serving meals, snacks, or providing cooking classes for clients. A minimum of one staff or volunteer must be trained in safe food handling. Once you have successfully passed your ServSafe® certificate will be valid for 5 years. A passing score of 75% is required to receive a ServSafe® certificate. A one-hour lunch break (on your own) will be provided.

The ServSafe® training will cover the following concepts:

      • Good personal hygiene
      • Time and temperature control
      • Preventing cross-contamination
      • Cleaning and sanitizing
      • Safe food preparation
      • Receiving and storing food
      • Methods of thawing, cooking, cooling and reheating food
      • And more…

REGISTRATION AND COURSE FEE

Registration opens at 7:45 a.m. and class begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. and concludes with the test following training. Participants MUST attend the entire training.

Space is limited and will be available to the first 24 registrants. Registration must be completed online. Registration closes 3 weeks prior to the class date.

Designed with food preparation assistants and snack programs in mind, this abbreviated training covers five key areas: basic food safety, personal hygiene, cross-contamination and allergens, time and temperature, and cleaning and sanitation.

The class is offered on the ServSafe® website for a $15 fee payable online. Video training takes close to 2 hours and ends with a 40 question test (75% needed to pass). The certification is valid for 3 years.

This training released by Feeding America and the National Restaurant Association, Food Handler for Food Banking, is intended for food pantries. The class is two hours in length with a test at the end. A minimum score of 75% is needed to pass. A certificate of completion is issued and will be sent to you and placed on file.

This training occurs online so join us from the comfort of your own home or office for this training. You’ll need a computer, internet connection, and phone to join in. Instructions to join the webinar are emailed to you after you register. A booklet will be mailed to you ahead of time so please include the correct mailing address. You will need to join us live during the date and time that you selected since we are not allowed to record the session due to copyright.

There is a $15 fee to cover the cost of the book. We will pay for one individual from your organization to complete the training for free. If you would like more than one person to be certified, your agency will need to pay $15 for each additional individual. We’ll invoice you if this is applicable.

ServSafe®Food Handler for Food Banking – Self-Study Option

The Agency Services Department of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank is offering trainings to acquaint agency representatives with the new

online ordering system Primarius 2 (P2). On May 13, 2024, the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank will upgrade from the current system Primarius Classic to Primarius 2 (P2).

P2 will look slightly different with the way that you order, add statistics, enter Retail Donation pounds, etc. so this training is required for all partner agencies.

The P2 training will cover:

  • Ordering
  • Entering Statistics
  • Entering Retail Donation Pounds
  • Viewing previous orders
  • Statements/Invoices

There will be plenty of time for questions and answers in the hour-long training session.
